Technical Assistance

Technical Assistance

LEITSC offers technical assistance to law enforcement agencies that are in the process of procuring or updating a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and/or a Records Management System (RMS). The technical assistance is driven by an agencies use of the Standard Functional Specifications for Law Enforcement CAD and/or RMS and is provided at no cost. Law enforcement agencies can leverage this opportunity when developing a request for proposal (RFP) for CAD systems or RMS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible to receive LEITSC Technical Assistance?

We assist local, tribal and state law enforcement agencies.

How does LEITSC determine whether an agency receives assistance?

An agency requesting technical assistance must submit a Request for Technical Assistance Form and any supporting documentation. The LEITSC staff will review the request and contact you to discuss the scope of assistance and the specific objectives. From this review and discussion, we will evaluate our ability to provide the assistance and assess the level of effort required and resources available. Based on our assessment, we will  either accept or decline the request. For requests that are declines, we will provide a written explanation  of the factors that led to our decision.  For requests that we accept, we will contact your agency and begin to schedule the assistance.

Does LEITSC offer grant funding to law enforcement agencies?

No. The LEITSC technical assistance program is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance and enables LEITSC to provide assistance to justice agencies without charge. LEITSC does not provide funding to law enforcement agencies or award sub-grants to agencies seeking funding of particular programs or technologies.

However, we can direct you towards potential funding sources here...

How soon will I receive assistance?

After review and approval of a technical assistance request, LEITSC schedules assistance on a first-come, first-serve basis. We make every attempt to fulfill your request as soon as LEITSC staff and consultants have time available. On-site assistance, by its very nature, requires much more planning and scheduling.
